The Old Saraighat Bridge will remain closed from 13 July to 13 September due to urgent repair work, authority issues, and some diversion plans for vehicular movement.

On Tuesday, Kamrup Metropolitan District Commissioner Swapneel Paul announced that the Saraighat Bridge in Guwahati will remain closed for 2 months.
According to the official, the bridge required urgent repair and maintenance to ensure long-term safety. During the repair period, vehicular movement will be restricted. Authorities have requested the public to cooperate and follow the issued traffic rules for the duration of the closure.
Traffic rules for Saraighat Bridge closure:

- Emergency service vehicles such as ambulances, fire services, and police vehicles are allowed to use the bridge.
- Long-distance heavy vehicles like trucks and goods carriers coming from Baihata are diverted to the Kaliabhomora Bridge.
Traffic police manage vehicular movement during closure time daily in Changsari and Boragaon to ensure smooth traffic rules. So plan your travel according to these traffic rules.
