What is Assam Premier League 2026?
The Assam Premier League (APL) 2026 is all set to become the biggest cricket tournament to be held in the state. Organized by the Assam Cricket Association (ACA), this is the first-ever franchise-based T20 cricket league in Assam. It will provide an opportunity to local cricket players while taking Assam cricket to a whole new level.
The Assam Premier League is based on the idea of organizing successful domestic T20 leagues of India like the IPL, TNPL, and Maharashtra Premier League, and will be helpful for the development of the state’s cricket ecosystem due to the opportunity for local cricketers to play among experienced domestic players. This will also enable talented young players to gain recognition from national selectors and from IPL franchises.
As per the Assam Cricket Association, the Assam Premier League will feature the player auction, league stage, knockout rounds, and final of the tournament. Matches of the tournament will be shown on JioHotstar and Star Sports channels and will be accessible all over India; thus, this league will be the first franchise cricket tournament from Assam state to be broadcast on television.
