The Assam Government launched new guidelines for the Dr. Bani Kanta Kakati Merit Award 2025, also known as the “Assam Govt Scooty Scheme 2025” under the Pragyan Bharati Scheme. Students who are scoring 80% or above in the HS Final Exam will receive scooters. Check eligibility, guidelines, and benefits here.”
The Assam Government announced the Scooty Distribution Scheme 2025, popularly known as the Dr. Bani Kanta Kakati Merit Award for Students who score 80% and above in the HS exam. Previously this scheme was only for girl students who scored 60% and above. This scheme aims to encourage higher education among the higher-scoring students.
A total of 11250 students will get scooters; 6860 girls will get scooties, and 4390 boys will get them. Within the next 2 months, the government will provide the scooter under the Assam Govt Scooty Scheme 2025.
About the Pragyan Bharati Scheme
The Pragyan Bharati Scheme is launched by the Assam government to provide educational support and financial support to the students. The Assam Government offers through the scheme:
- Free admission to colleges and universities for meritorious students.
- Free textbooks and uniforms for school students.
- One-time financial assistance for procurement of study materials.
- Distribution of scooters to higher secondary meritorious students.
The Assam Govt. Scooty Scheme 2025 is part of the Pragya Bharati Scheme.
Objective of the Assam Govt. Scooty Scheme 2025
The main objective of the distributions of the scooter as mentioned in the Assam government’s new guidelines:
- To encourage a sense of competitiveness and encourage students to perform better in their studies.
- To motivate students to pursue higher education.
- For better flexibility of the students for facilitating easy access to higher education.
- To increased of Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in the state of Assam.
Eligibility Criteria for Assam Govt. Scooty Scheme 2025
To take advantage of the Dr. Bani Kanta Kakati Merit Award Scooty Scheme, students must have fulfilled these conditions:
- The students must obtain 80% or more marks in the Higher Secondary Final Examination, 2025, conducted by the Assam State School Education Board.
- Only students in the betterment and reappearance category will not be eligible for the scheme.
- Students must be residents of the State of Assam
- Students who are studying outside the state can still qualify, as long as they have a valid PRC from Assam.
- It is an application-based scheme/program. No offline applications will be entertained.
- The award is applicable to both boys and girls

- Students will receive a scooter without any cost.
- It helps students to reach college, university, and coaching centers.
- Inspired other students to study hard and get the scooty.
- Reduces transportation problems, especially among the rural students.
Distribution process for Assam Govt Scooty Scheme 2025
Here the Assam Government mentioned it officially about the Assam Govt. Scooty Scheme distribution process. as follows:
- The eligible candidate list is uploaded at https://directorateofhighereducation.assam.gov.in/.
- The eligible students fill out an online application form.
- The Director of Higher Education will share a list of key people to help with the easy handing out of scooters to those who meet the criteria.
- These key people will take charge of gathering the application certificates from DHE.
- The eligible students will collect appreciation certificates from the concerned nodal principal and submit the same to the allotted deal.
- The government will provide the amount for scooter registration and insurance to the nodal principals. After properly verifying the beneficiary details, the nodal principals will send the money to the concerned dealer without hesitation.
- The scooter will be picked up by the students from the concerned dealers. The students will not pay any money to the concerned dealers for insurance and registration fees.
- The helmet will be given free of charge to the students along with the scooter.
- In case of a student’s untimely demise, the legal guardian may or may not choose to collect the scooter.
- The beneficiaries of the Dr. Bani Kanta Kakati Merit Award under the Pragyan Bharati scheme shall not be eligible for the Nijut Moina Scheme. However, if any girl beneficiary opts out of the Banikanta Kakati Award, she can apply for the Nijut Moina Scheme.
