Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu—Historic bridge
The Setu is a major infrastructure milestone in the Northeast. Also, a major connection between Guwahati and North Guwahati. The bridge is expected to cut the travel time from Guwahati to North Guwahati from 40-45 minutes to about 7 minutes. The bridge is built between Machkhowa on the Guwahati side and Mazgaon on the North Guwahati side.
The bridge is strategically important because it is located between two regions. With that, the Setu will also attract people with its beautiful modern design.
When did the construction of the Setu start?
The construction of the Setu was started back in 2019. The foundation stone was laid by PM Narendra Modi in the month of February. The six-lane project for the new bridge started that year.
