Cultural and Nature-Inspired Design Theme
We are very proud of our state pride; the Gamosa theme is also used in the new terminal design. It has given a good opportunity to know our Assamese culture to those coming from other states or countries. Through this design, they can know about Assamese culture and identity.
Bamboo and Orchid Motif Design Concept
This is the first time in India that an airport terminal with a nature theme has been built with a bamboo and orchid motif design. 140 MT of bamboo from the Northeast states was used to make this.
It has 57 columns designed as orchids (kopou phool). Kopou phool is our state flower. This orchid motif design is also known to everyone; it symbolises our state, Assam.
Sky Forest and Interior Ambience
1 lakh plants will provide a forest-like ambience, and the skylight will be relocated for optimal natural light.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the second terminal of the Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport on December 20.
Along with this, Prime Minister Modi also unveiled the 80-foot statue of Bharat Ratna Gopinath Bordoloi.
This signifies the official opening of the newly refurbished terminal to the public, featuring a launch event that will be held under the guidance of a notable Indian leader.
