Majuli is all set to get another tourism attraction with the announcement of the Majuli Double-Decker Bus project. The new sightseeing service is expected to attract more visitors and further strengthen Assam’s efforts to promote the state’s iconic river island as a top travel destination.

The largest river island in the world and a top spot for tourists in Assam, visitors are getting a new way to explore the area—a double-decker sightseeing bus. This will make it more fun for visitors to get around the river island. The announcement was made by the Majuli Auniati Satra‘s Satradhikar, Dr. Pitambar Dev Goswami.
According to Dr. Pitambar Dev Goswami, the Majuli Double-Decker Bus service is expected to officially start during the Raas Purnima celebration of 2026.
The River Island has always been known for its peaceful environment and the centuries-old satras. With the introduction of the London-style double-decker bus in Majuli, the tourism sector will be boosted, and the bus is expected to become another attraction of Majuli.
