Guwahati city bus routes and colour codes have always supported students, office workers, elderly people, and many others, but like other cities, Guwahati’s people face a similar problem—people are waiting at the bus stop for their correct bus to go to their home or destination. To erase the problem, the RTA of Guwahati introduced the idea for city buses. They coded colour and route number on the buses for easy recognition of their right bus.
Guwahati Public Transport System
This initiative was introduced by the Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Kamrup Metro. The report was issued in July-August 2024, and this order deadline was 15 December 2024. Both private and ASTC buses were instructed to display colour-coded strips in pairs in their buses. According to this report, the specific order for particular routes was issued by RTA secretary Tamsin Aftab.

Importance of Guwahati City Bus Route and Colour Code Recognition
Just imagine a situation: you are waiting at the bus stop to go home with 2 bags on a rainy evening, and you are worried about missing your bus due to the low visibility of the small number and destination written on the plate. You might have lost your bus.
On the other hand, if buses have long colour-coded strips paired within seconds from a little distance, you will be able to recognise your correct bus. You don’t have to wait long at the bus stop; you will instantly get your bus.
Let’s take another situation: if your friend visits Guwahati for the first time and he/she knows nothing about Guwahati city bus routes, he/she doesn’t know which bus goes which route and destination. He/she might feel awkward asking a stranger for the right bus. Then if each bus is coded with a colour, then he/she is able to recognize his/her destination.
That’s some benefit—getting people after Guwahati City Bus routes is colour-coded. It reduced confusion about getting into the wrong bus, and it gives confidence to people who are worried about travelling alone. This initiative is for smooth and easy travel to save your time and to avoid confusion.
