Zubeen Garg died on September 19, 2025, at the age of 52. He had traveled to Singapore to take part in the Northeast Festival when the tragedy happened. According to reports, Zubeen was scuba diving when he fell into the ocean, and Singapore police quickly came to his aid. He was brought to the hospital and placed in the intensive care unit, but despite the doctors’ best efforts, he was not able to be saved.
The day before, Zubeen had enthralled the crowd with a moving performance of “Tears in Heaven” at the 4th Northeast India Festival (NEIF) 2025, held at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre.
Fans throughout Assam, the Northeast, and beyond are in deep shock and grief over this news.
